While in Norfolk, Va. he learned the secrets of hat design and fitting under the tutelage of master hatters Anne Ingram and Beth Teague. Spending time in the factories of Stetson Western & Dress Hats, Resistol Western Hats, Dobbs Dress Hats, Milano Western Hats, and Beaver Brand Western & Dress Hats in New Haven, Missouri also helped Roger learn to fit customers comfortably and accurately even over the phone as attested to by the many hat aficionados he has served over the years.
